With Claudine Bouchard
Claudine brings a wide range of knowledge and expertise to her Pilates classes. For more than 25 years she has taught a variety of techniques including dance, postural gymnastics and Pilates. A former professional dancer with both classical and contemporary training, Claudine holds a degree in physical education from the Université de Montréal. Two years ago she added tango to her repertoire. The course she offers at MonTango combines the Pilates method with postural gymnastics to increase strength, flexibility, posture, balance and body awareness, all of which will help you dance tango with more ease and fluidity.

Tango course descriptions:

Tango I (beginner): Intro to the principles and basic techniques of Argentine tango. Walking, basic steps and positions, ochos and parada (stop).

Tango II (beginner II): Principles and basic techniques II.
Walking, giros (turns), paradas (stops), barridas, ganchos and boleo.

Tango III (Intermediate I): Perfecting, improvising and embellishing.
Deeper exploration of known concepts: walking, ochos, ganchos (and enganches),
turns (with enrosque), paradas, barridas and boleos.

Tango IV (Intermediate II): Dancing in close embrace.
Techniques and figures including milonguero-style ochos and turns, sacadas, calesita and more...

Tango V (Inter-Advanced): Freedom of movement and introduction to off-axis figures.
Linear boleos, ganchos, enganches, wraps, volcadas, colgadas.

(prerequisite: Tango V and at least two years of dancing Argentine tango)
As well as learning increasingly complex figures and sequences, you will work on musicality, changes of embrace, mastering your axis and other high-level concepts.
Note that the figures will change every session, so you can take the course several times and it will always be different.

(prerequisite: Tango V Tango V and at least two years of dancing Argentine tango)
Learn and perfect advanced figures while working on musicality, synchronization, transitions, embellishments and finales. This course (22 classes in total) is given twice a week, with two additional weekend practices at the end of the session.
Please note that there is an attendance requirement for the course.

An introduction to the steps and musicality of milonga.

(prerequisite: Milonga I)
A deeper exploration of the steps and musicality of milonga lisa (smooth)
and introduction to milonga traspie (double-time).

(prerequisite: Tango II)
An exploration of the rhythms and techniques of vals, using known figures
as well as new ones especially well-suited to this musical style.

Perfect your balance and style while working on your posture, balance, walking, pivots,
ornaments, musicality and more. Without partners.
Strongly recommended for beginners and advanced dancers alike!
**FREE TRIAL CLASS MONDAY, JAN. 9 AT 6 p.m.**

One-hour practice precedes Friday night and Sunday afternoon milongas. The instructor will teach a figure then help participants with it as well as answering any other questions. Friday 8 p.m.; Sunday noon. $10, milonga included for members.
