From April 9 to 11, Bryant and Faye Lopez return from Toronto to help us celebrate our 2nd anniversary and to give us another taste of their elegant “milonguero” style of dance, with a weekend of workshops and demonstrations.
Bryant was raised in Buenos Aires from the age of 4. He began dancing Argentine folk (malambo) when he was 14, where he discovered his passion for dancing. After performing professionally for three years he was introduced to tango, which would change his life forever. Since then, he has dedicated himself to improving and studying the elegant milonguero style from Buenos Aires in order to teach and perform professionally. His style of dancing has been influenced by such dancers as Pepito Avellaneda, Roberto Herrera and Juan Carlos Copez, from whom he has studied and learned throughout his career.
Faye hails from Knowlton, Quebec, with a rich background in the performing arts. Upon graduating from the elite Montreal school of music Vincent d'Indy and following a stint at New York University's renowned affiliate CAP-21, she completed her Triple Threat formation at the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts in Toronto. She is currently studying Cinema at the Professional Actors Lab in Toronto. Faye has played in numerous musical-comedy and dramatic productions (Bye-Bye Birdie, The Crucible, Guys and Dolls, King David, The Music Man, etc.). Trained in jazz and modern dance from a classical ballet background, Faye was finally introduced to Argentine Tango, which she has taken up professionally.
The couple will begin their visit with a performance at our 2nd Anniversary Ball on Friday, April 9, followed by four workshops on Saturday and Sunday.

From April 23 to June 18, Ensemble Montréal Tango’s Victor Simon will offer two series of four Friday evening workshops on musicality.
To kick off the series, Victor and his trio will perform at our milonga on Friday, April 23, which will also feature a demonstration by invited dancer Maral Kojayan.
In the seminars, aimed at dancers and teachers alike, participants will listen to and analyze the various rhythms of Buenos Aires in order to understand the rich structure of this sophisticated and elegant music. Professionals and instructors will finally be able to attach musical terminology to elements they already interpret intuitively in their choreographies. Milongueros will develop a profound sensitivity through the perception of the most important nuances of tango’s sound elements. We will be brought up to date on the music’s colours and flavours as well as all its rhythmic pulsations and its full range of melodies and orchestrations. This seminar will please professionals and non-professionals who strive to enrich their experience and take their dance to another level of musicality.
During the sessions, musical examples will be presented and practical exercises demonstrated.
